Natural aging processes of the skin are well understood. As the years pass, substances that give the skin natural resilience—collagen, most notably—begin to break down. As collagen beneath the surface of the skin degrades, the skin loses its ability to combat the forces of gravity and begins to sag. It also loses volume and moisture, causing a sunken, gaunt look. Of course genetics also play a big part in how we age. No matter what we do, some of us just look older sooner than others. Although this woman was just 43 years old, she sought Denver facelift surgery with Dr. Vath. She was dissatisfied with her deepening nasolabial folds, or “parentheses,” around her mouth. She also complained of losing her once sharp, distinctive jaw line and she felt her neck was beginning to sag prematurely. The patient didn’t want to look like a different person, she just wanted to regain a more youthful appearance. Dr. Vath recommended a mini facelift for the Denver woman. You can see the results achieved in these post-operative images taken three months after surgery. For most patients, mini facelift surgery involves a relatively short, smooth recovery process. Interested in finding out more? The best way to discover whether you’re a candidate is to request a complimentary consultation with Dr. Wolfe or Dr. Vath.
