At The Center for Cosmetic Surgery, our highest priority has always been patient safety, ethical care, and long-term outcomes. As part of that commitment, we closely follow guidance issued by national professional organizations that help define standards of care within plastic surgery.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) recently released an updated position statement recommending that gender-related breast and chest, genital, and facial surgeries be delayed until a patient is at least 19 years old. This update represents a change in the standard of care and became effective on February 3, 2026.
What this means for patients
As an ethical and responsible surgical practice, and as active members of ASPS, our surgeons are committed to adhering to established standards of care. In accordance with this guidance, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery will not perform the procedures included in the ASPS recommendation on patients under the age of 19.
This applies to gender-related breast and chest surgery, including chest masculinization, as well as other gender-related surgical procedures outlined in the ASPS position statement.
Our commitment to thoughtful, patient-centered care
We understand that this update may feel deeply personal and impactful. Decisions surrounding gender-affirming care are never taken lightly, and we recognize the trust patients place in us during vulnerable and important moments of their lives.
This decision was made thoughtfully, with legal guidance, and with a focus on patient safety, surgical ethics, and long-term well-being. While professional standards can evolve, our responsibility remains the same: to provide care that meets the highest medical, ethical, and professional expectations.
We are here to support you
If you have questions about how this update may affect your care, future planning, or consultation timing, our team is here to help. We are committed to open, respectful conversations and to supporting patients with clarity and compassion.

Thank you for your understanding and trust in The Center for Cosmetic Surgery.
