General Plastic Questions

Do you see out-of-town patients for plastic surgery?

Yes, we have many out-of-town plastic surgery patients come to our Denver practice. We are happy to get you set up to do a telephone consultation. In order to do this, we would need you to email photos to us so the doctor can review the photos before he talks to you on the phone, or on Skype. We will schedule a time on the doctor’s schedule during which he will call you and discuss the procedure, etc. If you decide you would like to schedule surgery, then we can schedule your pre operative appointment and surgery within a couple days of each other. We will then see you the day after surgery for a post operative appointment. You may return home after 2-10 days depending on the procedure(s) you have and your health history. There are two local hotels we are partnered with that offer special rates to our out of town guests. We can also arrange for in room nursing care for you if you do not have someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.

My daughter has a scar on her forehead from when she was 5 yrs old. They glued it but she has a scar and gets made fun of at school. What are our options?

Options can include a scar revision if the surgeon feels your daughter would benefit. A scar revision can significantly help to reduce the appearance of a present unsightly scar with a thinner one. It is not possible to permanently remove old scars, but many can be greatly improved.

What health conditions threaten a successful recovery after surgery?

Cosmetic surgery should only be performed on healthy, non-smoking patients without any significant history of medical problems. We do a complete history and physical on all patients prior to undergoing cosmetic surgery. If any concern is identified, you may not be a good candidate for an elective, cosmetic procedure.

How do you treat stretch marks?

There is no effective way to treat stretch marks other than to surgically remove them. If the stretch marks are in the abdominal area, a tummy tuck will remove those on the lower abdomen while tightening up your entire tummy.

I am a 23 year old mother of two and I have stretch marks all over my stomach and upper thighs, can this surgery remove my stretch marks?

In order to remove stretch marks, they must be excised or “cut out”. This is achieved with a tummy tuck, which will give you a flat tummy and remove all of the stretch marks from below your belly button to above your pubic area.

Does Dr. Vath have hospital privileges and if so, which hospital? Is he accredited with AAAASF, AAAHC or JCAHO?

I have had a c-section.. is there anyway to remove the scar?

When there is extra skin on your tummy after pregnancy, a tummy tuck is generally the best means of managing it. The procedure tightens the abdominal muscles and removes excess fat and skin leaving you with a flat abdomen. The c-section scar is removed during the procedure and replaced with a carefully placed tummy tuck scar. Often, women choose to have of nearby areas such as the flanks (love handles), hips, back, or thighs at the same time to improve their overall look.

Do you have a permanent cellulite removal treatment?

Contrary to popular belief, “cellulite” is not a type of fat. The dimpling you are referring to is caused by laxity in your connective tissues that hold the body and skin together. Rarely, liposuction can help flatten the area, but, more likely, a tightening procedure is necessary.
