It’s no secret that pregnancy and childbirth can leave a lasting impact on the body. Many new mothers struggle with deflated breasts, stretched-out skin, or unwanted pockets of fat. The good news is that all of these problems can be fixed in one procedure: the mommy makeover. Our Denver patients often ask questions about price, pain, and more—and here are the answers women across the internet want to know.

What’s included in a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a suite of procedures that lift and contour the body. Each surgery is personalized to the unique goals of the patient. The most popular treatments to include are:

  • Breast augmentation: Uses breast implants to add volume lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss.
  • Breast lift: Removes saggy tissue to restore a more youthful, perky breast shape.
  • Tummy tuck: Tones and firms the midsection by excising loose skin and repairing weakened abdominal muscles.
  • Liposuction: Suctions out unwanted fat and contours areas such as the hips, flanks, back, and thighs.

How much does a mommy makeover cost?

Here in Denver, the price of a mommy makeover depends on several factors. The final cost includes fees for the surgeon, operating room, anesthesia, and any medical devices such as implants. Each of these details will vary based on which procedures you have chosen, so a consultation is required to determine the cost. After your one-on-one meeting with your doctor, you will receive a customized quote that breaks down the individual fees and outlines your final price.

How painful is a mommy makeover?

Like any surgery, a mommy makeover involves a certain amount of discomfort. You will feel sore and fatigued for around a week after the procedure. At our practice, we use a long-acting pain medication called Exparel to alleviate any significant pain. This localized numbing agent lasts for a full 3 days and helps ease the recovery process.

Can you lose weight with a mommy makeover?

No, mommy makeover surgery won’t help you lose weight or dramatically change the number on the scale. However, you don’t need to be at a “perfect size” before undergoing surgery. You should be within 10 to 20 pounds of your goal weight and shed any extra pounds prior to surgery. After you’ve maximized your efforts and stabilized your weight, a mommy makeover can sculpt and tone lingering trouble spots.

How long does mommy makeover recovery take?

The length of your mommy makeover recovery will depend on the specific set of procedures you had. In general, we recommend that you take at least 2 weeks off from work and other daily responsibilities. You will wear a compression garment during this time to help prevent swelling and discomfort. Most of your swelling will subside after a month, and you’ll start to feel more like your usual self.
