What Makes an A-List Med Spa? (Part 2)

The Center for Cosmetic Surgery

When it comes to finding a med spa in the Denver area, you have many choices. Looking for a safe, comfortable and knowledgeable med spa can be daunting, especially if you are new to nonsurgical treatments. Each spa has its own unique atmosphere, mission statement, and patient experience. Some spas pay attention to pretty details in the waiting room, while others look sterile and hospital-like.

Search engines like Google and Yelp have different review and grading requirements. So, how does a new person know what is fact or fiction? A beautiful review or web page may woo you into the front door. But what are the true signs of a good med spa once you are there?

A First-Hand Look

Our very own Patient Advocate, Marissa Griffanti, interviewed 10 Denver med spas recently and found big differences between all of them. She was aiming to find those within the Denver area that have a well-balanced team, inviting atmosphere, highly cross-trained staff, and competitive pricing. Her main goal was to better understand what kind of options there are for med spa newcomers. She interviewed staff, investigated their credentials, pricing, treatments offered, and analyzed the overall feel.

Some of the spas were friendly and patient-focused, while many treated her like a number, never elaborating upon the questions she asked. Marissa said it was disappointing to find that some nurses couldn’t answer basic skin care questions such as, “What are the best skin care products for my skin type?” A big takeaway for Marissa was understanding that pricing for treatments and injections are all over the board. She cautions those looking for a “deal” to think twice, as a few dollars extra can make a huge difference in how you are treated. (See our previous blog post!)

What to Look For

This experience resulted in Marissa sharing some great tips for first-time med spa-goers. Here are the traits she recommends looking for in a potential practice:

  • A clean, inviting atmosphere.
  • Friendly, educated support staff who can answer your initial questions without fumbling.
  • Registered Nurses and Aestheticians who are up-to-date on new skin care treatments.
  • Aestheticians who can answer injection questions.
  • Injection nurses can answer skincare questions.
  • Clinicians who take the time to listen to your goals.
  • Clinicians who aim to create a unique treatment plan for your skin, not just a “one size fits all” plan.
  • Respect for your budget parameters.
  • Clinics who have before-and-after photos and positive patient reviews.

Overall, you should never settle for less than a med spa that makes you feel valued, cared for, and thrilled about the way you look and feel when you walk out the door. We think that you will agree, Rejuvenate has all of these qualities!
