Questions About Male Breast Reduction
Are you FTM friendly?
We are female-to-male (FTM) friendly! Top surgery, also called chest masculinization surgery, is one of the most commonly performed gender reassignment surgeries available for FTM transsexuals. FTM top surgery allows trans men to live more comfortably, improving psychological and social functioning. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Steinwald is a pioneer in this procedure, which entails removing the breast tissue and excess skin and relocating the nipple to a more “male” position.
I’m just curious about the average cost of male breast reduction surgery. I’m 32, 6’2 ish, 195-200 lbs, healthy, and no allergies.
Gynecomastia surgery, often called male breast reduction, costs between $4,500 and $6,700 depending on the specifics of the surgery. Sometimes the excess fat can be removed with liposuction alone and sometimes glandular excision is necessary.
Will smoking affect my recovery?
Smoking adversely affects wound healing. The small vessels that supply blood to the tissues shrink up and prevent the necessary nutrients for healing to get to the wound. The incidence of having a wound complication such as an open wound or skin death is much higher in smokers. Furthermore, the rate of wound infection is also significantly increased in smokers for the same reason of limited blood flow. Because of this, a patient must stop smoking for a minimum of two weeks prior to surgery to decrease the risk of these complications.
